In this issue: Insure your snowmobile with MPI. Travel Medical Insurance plans. Freezing pipes and service line coverage. Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance.
Do I need to insure my snowmobile with MPI?
Yes, MPI is the only option in Manitoba to insure your snowmobile, as coverate is not available through your property insurance. The basic coverage includes $500,000 third party liability and $500,000 underinsured motorist coverage.
It is recommended to review and discuss all the additional coverages with your Autopac agent. These additional coverages include: accident benefits, comprehensive coverage, collision coverage, and increased third party liability coverage. If you only operate your snowmobile on your own property you do not need to register your snowmobile with Autopac, however, it is highly recommended that you do buy insurance.

Being so cold outside, many people are worried about freezing pipes – how can this affect me and what can I do to protect myself?
Yes, it’s chilly outside! Many people don’t realize that as a homeowner you are responsible for the underground service lines that run from the street to your home. A number of problems can occur with these lines, such as rust, corrosion, systems breakdown or rupture due to freezing. These are not covered under most home insurance policies. Service line coverage protects you from losses due to damage or failure of these lines by extending your home insurance coverage to underground piping, wiring, valves and more. This would provide protection in the event of sudden and accidental bursting of pipes between your house and the city lines. This coverage can be added to your homeowner policy to provide protection against some of the unexpected damage to your service lines and the resulting expenses.
